County Carlow is strategically located in the south east of Ireland, in close proximity to the greater Dublin Region. Carlow County Council provides a broad range of services and functions for the County directly and also in co-operation with national, regional and local organisations, communities and local development groups. In the performance of its functions, the Council takes account of all relevant legislation, policies, and objectives as set out in statutory plans and strategies. A vacancy currently exists in Carlow County Council for the position of Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer.  Reporting to the Chief Fire Officer, the Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer will be required to lead a team in any of the main disciplines of the Fire Service: Operations, Prevention, Major Emergency Management or Building Control. As a Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer, the successful candidate will have an important role in the management of staff and will have to be capable of undertaking the role of Rostered Senior Fire Officer at operational incidents.
