Job Description. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Operations Director at our new facility in Carlow. This position will contribute to developing and implementing strategic planning in Ireland by providing medical insight and expert knowledge about the product or disease area. In addition, the role shall identify, develop and maintain credible relationships with healthcare professionals, providers and academic centres. What you will do: Bring energy, knowledge, innovation to carry out the following:   Leadership activities including selection, development, coaching and day to day management. Ensure that the team receives appropriate resources and programmes to develop technical and other skills, to complete their jobs whilst stimulating personal growth and development in line with role. Develop and maintain training programmes. Responsible for directing process development and process validation activities for vaccines and biologics technology to support commercialization of new products in Carlow. Carlow is the DP site of choice for all sterile large and small molecule commercialisation activities. The exciting pipeline today is most notably allocated to next generation oncology biologics, PCV Vaccines and HPV vaccines. This role will also lead any internal Tech Transfers throughout the site. Responsible for the identification and implementation of scientific and technological opportunities in IPT for major cost and quality improvements. Judgement in these efforts will cross many disciplines including chemistry, formulation technology and engineering. As a senior leader in the organization the individual will be responsible for strategic leadership, managing a sizable function and for building competencies, talent management and the development of people. Ensuring site compliance with all site, and corporate sites as appropriate. Drive effective writing/revising/rolling out of accurate technical operational procedures, training materials, risk assessments and procedures for various technical operations process systems; ensure all work is subsequently carried out in line with same. Lead and participate in projects using lean tools. Work with State agencies (eg. IDA, Universities and NIBERT) to ensure available. funding/grant/tax credits for qualifying Carlow processes. Responsible for ensuring Technical Operations activities ensuring design and processes are developed to enable this to happen and are performed in conformance with site, divisional land corporate safety standards. Required to comply with the Company’s Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute current Good manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day to day activities and all applicable job functions. What skills you will need: In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have: Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred; ideally in Engineering, Science or Pharmaceuticals.  A minimum of 10yrs post qualification is required. Green Belt or higher preferred. Deep knowledge and experience in aseptic processing; formulation and filling of vaccines and biologics is required. Experience in process technology transfers and process validation is essential. Knowledge of Irish, European and International regulatory codes is essential.
